There is a robust 4-H organization in Tanzania, which has adopted conservation as their central theme. Every year, Tanzanian 4-H youth plant and care for thousands of trees to renew Tanzanian forest cover. To date, 4HMT TANZANIA HAS PLANTED 50,000 trees to help slow global climate change, and reforest the country. As with most African nations, the forest has been decimated, primarily for cooking fuel, so it is critical that someone takes a leading role to replant trees, and the 4-H youth have assumed that role. Communications are difficult in Tanzania, because distances are great, and phone and internet connections are a challenge. However, 4HMT is working hard with the national 4-H leaders to help organize more rural tree planting events. Other charitable organizations in Tanzania are eager to partner with 4HMT to get more trees in the ground, and help renew the Tanzanian environment, however funding is needed to move the Tanzania projects forward.
